SG Photography is a family owned business that began in 1996 by Steven and Sarah Simpkins. Steven began his business photographing weddings. Steven's interest in photography began at the age of 12 when he discovered a 35mm camera that once belonged to his grandfather. Much time was spent taking, developing and printing photographs both in school as well as in his own darkroom. After studying Graphic Arts, Steven accepted a position At Saginaw Photo. Shortly thereafter, Steven began photographing weddings for another local photographer in 1985. As Steven and Sarah continue to grow the business of photographing high school seniors, children, weddings and families, they continue to increase their knowledge of photography through continuing education in the photographic and related business aspects.Steven is well versed in event and portrait photography as well as editorial photography. Steven takes assignments for the Associated Press, the Detroit News and Midland Daily News. Steven is a past member of the Midland Downtown Business Association Executive Board of Directors and currently serves on the advisory boards of both Bay Arenac ISD and Saginaw Career Complex Graphic Arts programs. Sarah has had a longtime interest in photography and has taken her photography to the next level, specializing in editorial black and white Wedding Photography. Steven and Sarah have won numerous awards at state and regional photographic juried competitions, including several blue ribbons. Steven and Sarah are members of the Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Michigan, Mid-Michigan Professional Photographers Association as well as other professional organizations.
